Patrick Michael Idler

   Patrick Michael “Pat” Idler, 77, of Weeping Water, Nebraska, died Monday, April 18th, suddenly, at Community Memorial Hospital, Syracuse.
   Patrick was born in Oak Park, Illinois on August 30, 1938,to Kathryn  (Bassi) and John  Idler.
A graduate of Seton Hall Prep. and Seton Hall University, he also attended University of Virginia, and served in U.S. Army. He taught English at Woodward  school for Boys, in Washington D.C. and was President of Nebraska Solar Energy Society. He attended  St. Patrick’s Catholic Church
Pat lived many places while teaching and working as an architect  first moving to New Jersey in the 1950’s then Alexandria and Woodbridge Va. in the 1960’s moving the first time to Nebraska in 1975, Elk Grove California in 1987 until returning to Nebraska in 2006. Pat retired from HDR in 2005. He was well loved, highly respected, loved to tell stories, gardening, enjoyed Tent camping, hiking and travel.
   Patrick is  survived by his wife of 50 years  Adelay  (Bopp) Idler married on December 30, 1965. Three daughters, Tamara K. LaFond, Sarina L. McNeel, and Erika P. Benavides and Seven Grandchildren. Five sisters, Joann Pol, Nancy  Idler, Colleen LaMar, Paula Smith, Sally Maalouf. Three brothers, Guy, Barry  and Martin Idler, nieces, nephews and friends.
   He was preceded in death by his Parents, One Sister Judy Carney, Two Brothers Vincent and Terrance Idler

  Evelyn M. Hagmann (nee Ast), 100, passed away on May 7, 2016 at home in Bloomfield, surrounded by her loving family.

   Born in Newark, Mrs Hagmann lived in Bloomfield for the last 76 years.  She volunteered as Secretary for the Watsessing Senior Wednesday Club and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society at Sacred Heart Church.
Her passion in life was dancing and she will always be remembered for her contagious smile.
  She was the wife of the late Herbert L. Hagmann for 63 years; mother of Herbert Donald Hagmann and his companion Geri Vesnesky of West Long Branch and Elizabeth (Betty) Burkhardt and her husband Wayne of Bloomfield, sister of Joseph Ast and his wife Marie of Toms River; grandmother of Stephen Hagmann and his wife Millie of Florida, Kevin Burkhardt and his wife Rachel of California and Brian Burkhardt and his wife Kim of Nutley; and great grandmother of Logan Burkhardt.

   Renee was the beloved wife of John A. Cuomo (former owner of the Belmont Tavern); loving stepmother of James and his companion Lucille, and John and his wife Gwendolyn; step grandmother of Falicia, Shane and Dana She is also survived by 4 step great grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late George and Freda Makris; sister of Bess Stillwell and the late Constantine, Hope and Stella. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

   Mildred M. Dixon, 91, passed away on Friday May 13, 2016 at Job Haines Home in Bloomfield.

   Born and raised in Fairview, NJ, Mildred lived in Bloomfield for 50 years and Verona since 2000. She was a homemaker who also had a cottage craft business.
   During World War II, Mildred supported the war effort by working in a Button Factory in Fairview with her father where they prepared buttons that were used for Military Clothing.
  She enjoyed reading poetry, writing personal poetry and reading her Bible. In addition, she had a passion for completing many beautiful, complicated puzzles. She was a dog lover and very dedicated to her Poodles throughout the years.     Mildred was daughter of the late Stephan and Mary (Gurka) Pavlu; devoted wife of the late Gilbert L. Dixon for 51 years; mother of Deborah Dixon Doebel, mother in-law of Carl Doebel; grandmother of Cory J. Doebel; godmother of Robert Ferraro and the late Anthony Ferraro; sister to Eleanor Pavlu Ferraro and the late Stephanie Palmer, Charles Pavlu and Edward Pavlu.

Janet Brown Griffin

   Janet B. Griffin, Retired Nurse, Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother died May 13, 2016 when she was lovingly called Home by our Lord.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 21, 2016 at the Grace Presbyterian Church, Montclair, NJ. There will be a private cremation. O’Boyles Funeral Home, 309 Broad Street, Bloomfield, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Griffin was born on July 26, 1921 in Belleville to her parents, John and Hazel Brown. She was delivered at home by her uncle, Dr. Richard Brown of Newark. She grew up in Montclair with her parents and four siblings.
She was married to Robert Griffin on January 6, 1951. After a brief time living in Boston, they moved to Cedar Grove where they raised their family.  Mr. and Mrs. Griffin enjoyed retiriement in Whiting N.J.  After the passing of her husband Robert, Mrs. Griffin moved to Bloomfield to be closer to her family.
Mrs. Griffin was a nurse and cared for all of those around her throughout her entire life.  She graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing through the Nurse Cadet Corps program on February 16, 1947. During her training she worked in Mount Alto Veterans Hospital in Washington D.C. as well as the Wachusett Infirmary at Fort Devens Massachusetts.  Mrs. Griffin also worked at the Montclair Community Hospital and the Lying-In Hospital in Boston MA.
Mrs. Griffin put her career on hold for a number of years to raise her three children.  During that time, she was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Montclair where she taught Sunday School, volunteered in Vacation Bible School and was involved in the “Couples Club”.
With the children grown, she returned to work in various nursing capacities. She worked in nursing homes as well as doctor’s offices. Her last place of employment was at the Job Haines Home for the Aged in Bloomfield where she was loved by all.  In 2009, she returned to Job Haines Assisted Living as a resident. During her long nursing career she was a loving care giver and mother to all. Her gift of love and caring was returned in kind as she was loved by all.
Mrs. Griffin was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Robert H. Griffin in 2009. She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Joan and Ed DeJong of Verona,  her son and daughter in law John and Vicki Griffin of Broomfield CO. and her son Robert Griffin of Bloomfield.  She also leaves behind her five precious grandchildren, Joel, Kristin, Ryan, Rachael and Kevin, as well as many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

James M. Murphy

   Murphy — James M.   Our beloved father passed away peacefully in his 106th year on May 23rd, 2016.  Jim Murphy was born on August 29, 1910 in Cambridge Massachusetts, the son of Michael Murphy and Catherine McDermott.  He attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn and the University of Wyoming.   He married Helen Joan Glasco in 1942, and lived for many years in Amityville, New York and Little Compton, Rhode Island.  He was predeceased by his wife and three of his children, James Murphy, Jr., Kevin Murphy and Curtis Murphy, and is survived by his children Kathleen Mencher, Paul Murphy, Donald Murphy, Gregory Murphy, Maryellen Peck, Sheila Murphy, Elizabeth Murphy and Margaret DeAngelis, seventeen grand- children and eleven great grand-children.  An avid sportsman, he golfed and participated in marathons and road races into his nineties.  He was a hospice volunteer well into old age and marched in Washington on the eve of his 100th birthday.  He was a man of God, wise and kind, a gentle man and a gentleman, devoted to his wife and the well-being of his family. A quiet man.  A man of great integrity, humor, grace and fortitude.  Rest in peace, Dad.  Well done.

  Bronislawa Karwowski, 94 of Bloomfield, entered into eternal rest at her home. Born in Zamosc, Poland on March 21, 1922 she was  captured by the Nazi’s at the age of 19 and forced into a work camp in German. After the war, she met her husband Peter and they started a family.
On September 21, 1961, the whole family emigrated to Bloomfield.
She found employment as a seamstress with Frank Saltz & Sons of Passaic where she worked for many years until retirement.
   She is predeceased by her husband, Peter (1989) and 6 siblings in Poland. She is the cherished mother of Edmund, Henry & Richard, beloved grandmother of Jessica, Kathleen, Krista, Eric, Lindsay & step-grandchildren; Dana Peters & Christina DellaValle, loving great-grandmother of Katie, Morgen & Elysa.    Jacqueline was the daughter of the late William and Ann (Melmauer) Courter; niece of Elizabeth Beska; cousin of Judy Halvorsen (Ronald), Gary Lordi (Mary Ann), Sharon Tramutola (Azhar).

  She was the wife of the late Carmen J. Hedli Sr. for 61 years, mother of Carmen J. Jr. and (Donna) of Toms River, Douglas and (Susan) of Bloomfield and Paul and (Christine) of Clinton, mother in law of Joyce Hedli, sister of Pauline Lanza and Babe Stewart and predeceased by 2 sisters and 2 brothers.  She was the grandmother of Tiffany, Josh and Laura.

  Joseph Aloysius Staatsburg of Maplewood NJ passed away peacefully at home on the morning of June 1, 2016.
   Born in Newark NJ on September 13, 1925, he was the son of the late Edward and Pauline Imfeld Staatsberger. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved two brothers, Edward and Harold John and his sister Pauline Barth.
   Mr. Staatsburg graduated from Columbia High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1943 at the age of seventeen. Mr. Staatsburg was wounded twice while serving in the Marshall and Solomon Islands, Guam, and Okinawa; and was a proud PFC in G-Company, 2nd Battalion, 22nd Marines.
   Mr. Staatsburg was employed for many years by the Lockheed-Martin Company.
   Mr. Staatsburg will be laid to eternal rest at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. On Tuesday, June 14 th at 12:30 PM
   Joseph was a loving man and he was much loved; he will be missed and remembered by his family and friends.

   Ann was born in the Bronx, NY and lived in West Orange for the past 50 years. She worked for Prudential in Newark as a Section Head before marriage, and then later worked at Ceridian in East Hanover in Data Processing, retiring at the age of 86. She was active in the PTA, Cub Scouts, the Orange Library, and a subscriber to the Papermill Playhouse for 29 years.
   Ann was predeceased by her husband, Stanley in 1986. She leaves three children: daughter Barbara, with whom she lived, and two sons; George and his significant other Donna Simendinger, and Richard and his wife Lorraine, two grandchildren; Jill and Kelly, and one great grandson Dylan.

  Born in the Philippines, Mr. Nebiar lived in Nutley and in Bloomfield since 1987.
   He was assistant engineer for the town of Denville and prior to this he worked for the Township of Cedar Grove for 19 years. He was a former member of the St. Valentine Church Choir.

   Born in Arnot, PA, Mrs. McGivern lived her early years in Simpson, PA. She graduated from Fells Township High School and worked as a women’s clothing sales associate and then an optometrist’s assistant before moving to Washington, DC where she worked as an administrative assistant at the Pentagon during WWII.
   Mrs. McGivern married James McGivern in 1944, first moving to Kearny, NJ and then, for 60 years, making a home in Bloomfield, NJ. After raising five children, she returned to the workforce, retiring from Midlantic-PNC Bank, in 1981, where she was a banking instructor.
   She was a member of VOR, an advocacy group for the intellectually disabled, and Friends of New Lisbon Developmental Center. In her earlier years, she had been an active member of Fairview School (Bloomfield) PTO and the Sacred Heart Rosary Society.
   Mrs. McGivern was pre-deceased by her husband of 69 years, James E. McGivern, and her son, James J. McGivern.
  She was the mother of Teresa Castellano and her husband, Michael Castellano, of Weston, CT; Donna Marie Churchill and her husband, John, of Brick, NJ; Joseph of New Lisbon, NJ; and Edward and his wife Myra Corbett, of Milford, NJ.
  She was the grandmother of Rebecca, Mark, Andrew, Michael, Jonathan, Kevin, James Albert and James Andrew, and the great grandmother of Eleanore, Lucinda, Courtney and Samantha.
   Elizabeth McGivern was described by Inglemoor’s Assistant Recreation Director Latrice Gillon as “the cookie that never crumbles,” referring to her strength of physical and spiritual fortitude. Her family and friends would agree.

   She was the wife of Michael B. Lambroschino for 47 years, mother of Gina, Jennifer and Michael A., sister of Edward Ellis and his wife June, Jimmy Tortorello and his wife Andrea, Daniel Tortorello and his wife Pam and the late Bill Ellis and sister in law of Lee.  She is also survived by her devoted cat Calvin.

   Lawrence J. Kenney, 90, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at home in Bloomfield, N.J.

   Born in Woburn, Mass., he  lived in  Bloomfield since 1957.
   Mr.  Kenney was a US Navy Veteran serving as an Aerial Gunner in a Torpedo Squadron during WWII.
   He was employed for 30 years by Beckman Coulter Instrument Co. in various capacities including customer service manager at their regional office in Somerset, N.J.
   He served as a volunteer for many years with various groups including St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Bloomfield, Covenant House and St. Francis Xavier Welcome Table in NYC, and Broadway House in Newark, as well as being a Eucharistic Minister and volunteer at Mountainside Hospital.  He was also a member of the Bloomfield Board of Education for six years serving two as president.  After retirement he was employed for several years as a backstretch security guard at Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford.
   He was the husband of Martha Quinn Kenney for 59 years, father of Francis Xavier and his wife Sylvia, Maura Kenney Scollo and her husband Joseph, grandfather of Megan, Christopher, Mia and Ava, sister in law of Winifred  Mehl of Florida.  He was the brother of the late James and Paul Kenney and Barbara McCormack.

   Christian was the son of James Parker Wollner and Madeline Brannick Wollner; brother of Katherine Malenczak and her husband Derek; and Uncle of Wyatt. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, great aunts and great great uncles and his dearest Flash.
